Synopsis

2061: A Space Idiocy is a lively, fast moving comedy, featuring eleven original songs, all with their own particular flavour, and all particularly popular with the cast.

The setting of the play is aboard a starship bound for the distant planet Zeno . Its major passenger is an Earth Princess who's marriage to an alien prince cements a shaky alliance, and prevents intergalactic war. Of course things go horribly wrong as the antics of the captain's bungling son (who is first officer of the ship) exacerbate the problems caused by sinister forces abroad the ship, who are attempting to prevent the wedding.

A mystery stranger is rescued during the journey and his presence further complicates the mission. The tension heightens as the voyage progresses, and the story reaches its climax in the grand cathedral on the planet Zenos.

The setting and storyline with it's subplots and twists make for excellent characters, and very FUNNY situations. The show has a vast variety of characters including aliens, and androids. Among the lead characters are Captain Cook, and his son Spotsworth (Spotty), Mr Spook, Navigator Airhart, Lieutenants Zulu and Arora, Helmsman Bertram, the Princess Barbic, and Nurse Florence.

The show has great potential for colourful costumes and spectacular sets. The play is suitable for a wide range of productions, from adult groups, to whole college shows, to the junior section of a multi campus school, to primary schools.

2061: A Space Idiocy has been performed in a wide range of situations across several states of Australia, and continues to be extremely popular with audiences, as well as providing enormous enjoyment to those involved in the staging of the show.
