Synopsis
Donaldson's Circus is in trouble and is in danger of closing down. Most of its performers have quit or are threatening to go. By coincidence the Ringmaster bears a strong resemblance to “Harry the Scar”, a crime boss who is serving a long sentence in prison. Harry's bagman decides to invest in the circus, insist it put on a charity performance in the prison, and exchange Harry for the Ringmaster. Harry's gang have ambitions to be circus performers but are untalented bunglers and of course the plans start to go awry.
This is a very funny story with great opportunity circus tricks, colourful costumes and dance items. David Nicholson's score is perfect for the themes within the story.
So lets all get involved in the greatest show on earth. Send in the Clowns!
